Roof leaks and excess moisture are two common signs that the pointing is failing. As the cement mortar or flexible compound breaks down or cracks, water can reach the inside of the roof. The pointing is responsible for holding roof tiles in place. If the …

In about 2 hours a 2 inch (51 mm) cube breaks at 8,000 psi to 9,000 psi (55.16 to 62.05) MPa; you can use it on concrete with strength up to 16,000 psi (110.32 MPa) with confidence. Hi-Cap2™ Capping Compound is a special formula created especially for FORNEY. It has been heat purified (degassed) to reduce fumes and odors, produces less dust ...
Sulfur Capping Compound. The Sulfur capping compound features ultra-strong hot-blended flakes for guaranteed consistency from sulfur, mineral filler, and special components. This provides top performance, even for high-strength concrete tests. The sulfur capping compound melts quickly at 240° – 260°F (116° – 127°C).
Choosing the right concrete resurfacing product. There are three components involved in concrete resurfacing with Overcrete products - the resurfacing compound, the cement activator, and the powder colour tint, which comes in a range of options. Overcrete Concrete Resurfacing Compound is available in the base colours of ivory, white and grey.
After that, tap the cap mould downward and remove the cylinder from the cap mould. Repeat the same procedure to cap the other end of the cylindrical test specimen. Note. This type of capping is done after removing the concrete cylinder from the mould. 3. Gypsum Plaster Capping. Prepare a stiff plaster by mixing gypsum & water at a desired ratio.
The reusable capping system substantially reduces the cost of both material and labor in testing concrete cylinders. Neoprene pads cost approximately the same per test as sulphur capping compound. With reusable caps the labor required to prepare a cylinder for testing is essentially eliminated, and testing can be done immediately.
Capping compound, ultra strong flake type. This compound is a mixture of sulphur and mineral filler; the compressive strength of 8000 - 9000 Psi is granted (at two hours) on a 2" cube specimen, as requested by ASTM C617 Standards. On a 150 mm dia. cylinder the compressive strength is 16000 Psi. Melting point is 115 to 143°C. (ideal: 130°C.)
Gilson Gray Iron 9000 Capping Compound is a sulfur mortar compound used in concrete strength testing to help ensure even load distribution. Compressive strength is in excess of 8,000psi at two hours. Offers fast set time. Vitrobond Ingot Capping Compound is a carbon-filled compound that offers consistent results. Its compressive strength is in excess of 5,000psi at two hours and increases to 7 ...
Concrete roofs have been an integral part of modern architecture for decades. Although they are typically seen as rooftops for commercial buildings, with changes to styles and architecture for residential buildings, homes are now also being constructed using this roofing method, with concrete shingles also starting to become popular in residential home structures. Even though […]
Used to melt capping compound, sealing wax, paraffin, and other materials. Manufactured from heavy duty cast aluminum with heating elements in constant contact with bottom of inner chamber and 100 °F to 500 °F (38 °C to 260 °C) thermostat.

Gilson Gray Iron 9000 Capping Compound is a new and improved sulfur mortar capping compound that ensures even load distribution during concrete strength testing. Ultra-thin, low-odor flakes are carefully formulated from sulfur and mineral filler. Gray Iron melts quickly at 230°—240°F (110°—115°C), with a wide optimum pouring range of 265°—290°F (129°—143°C).
Sulfur & Capping Compounds. Sauereisen 600 flake Basolit Sulfur Capping Compound has been used for many years by concrete testing laboratories for testing concrete cylinders for comprehensive strength. 600 is supplied in flake form and provides exceptionally easy and convenient handling and melting compared to ingots or briquettes.
When testing concrete cylinder specimens it is essential that the two ends are perfectly flat. This range of equipment allows the ends of the various sizes of concrete cylinders or cores to be capped using the sulphur capping compound. Cylinder cappers Used to assure plane end surfaces perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder during the capping.
IS: 2185 (Part 1) – 1979 2 and IS: 2185 (Part II)-1983 3 specified Gypsum Plaster capping for concrete Blocks compression testing. The codes specified that, gypsum plaster, when gauged with water at the capping consistency shall have a compressive strength at 2-hour age of not less than 25 N/mm 2, when tested at 20 mm cubes.ASTM C140-03 4 also specified gypsum capping for testing concrete ...

Capping Set. Ref. Standards-IS:516, BS:1881,ASTMC31,ASTM C 617 . It is essential that the ends of the concrete cylinder specimens are flat and parallel when conducting a compressive strength test. If it is not so, the end surfaces are required to be capped with capping compound, using capping sets to obtain these conditions.
Capping Compound - Capping - Concrete. Capping compound is used during sample preparation for compressive strength testing by creating a totally flat parallel surface and adhering in its liquid-viscous state to cover all imperfections or rough surfaces. Once returned to a solid state its compressive strength increases.

Capping Compound Hi-Cap2 . ASTM C617 AASHTO T231 EN 12390-3. Hi-Cap2 Capping Compound is used during concrete sample preparation for compressive strength testing by adhering in its liquid-viscous state to cover all imperfections or rough surfaces and creating a totally flat parallel surface.
Concrete cylinder specimens need to be capped on at least one end prior to compression testing, and this is done with a molten sulphur compound or one of the alternative mortar capping methods described in the Australian Standards as 1012-1973. These approved methods are slow and capping must be done at least 1 to 2 hours in advance of testing.
